Free for All: Oddballs, Geeks, and Gangstas in the Public Library

I just finished reading a new book by Don Borchert, "Free for All: Oddballs, Geeks, and Gangstas in the Public Library". Really enjoyed it. Now that I'm back working the desk in a downtown urban branch, I'm feeling the pain again. The pain of working with the homeless, the mentally ill and the substance abusers. It's quite draining but can also be very funny. I'm not much of a writer and Borchert manages to describe the inner workings of the library in a way that I never can. If you want to know what I experience on a daily basis, read this book and then double it. He works in a small branch, after all.
